Trinidad Unesco World Heritage
Located in the UNESCO declared world heritage city of Trinidad, on one of the most famous streets of this historic city and within walking distance to all renowned attractions in the city centre. Trinidad’s picture-perfect location, between mountains and the Caribbean coastline, offers an abundance of natural attractions.
The picturesque colonial city of Trinidad can be found close by. The airport of Havana is approximately 4 hours from Trinidad, and the airport of Varadero can be reached within 3 ½ hours. Mansion Alameda is centrally located directly on the street that leads to Plaza Mayor where the most important sights can be found. Private Restaurants and Bars can be found nearby. Guests arriving with a rental car can securly park their vehicle in front of the mansion at no cost.
It is easy to see why Trinidad is called “the museum city of Cuba.” The meticulously preserved town offers a window into the past, from its sprawling colonial palaces and plazas to its remnants of sugar mills and slave barracks from another era. Trinidad was founded in 1514, and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Many of its most striking buildings, including the Museo Histórico Municipal and the Museo de Arquitectura Trinitaria, are situated around Trinidad’s central public square, Plaza Mayor. Be sure to make time for a trip to the Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the Sugar Mills) to see the ruins of dozens of 19th century sugar mills located just outside the city. Cienfuegos
Cienfuegos is known as the “Pearl of the South. Arranged around the country's most spectacular natural bay, Cienfuegos is a nautical city with an enviable waterside setting. A factor that earned it a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing in 2005.
Ancón Peninsula
Only some 12 Km (8 miles) south of Trinidad lies a spectacular stretch of beach, accessible either by way of Casilda or the more scenic route via the small fishing village of La Boca, where Trinidad’s river disgorges its waters into the sea.
Valle de los Ingenios
As you leave Trinidad heading northeast toward Sancti Spíritus, the road passes through the spectacular Valley of the Sugar Mills. Like Trinidad, this lush valley is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Topes de Collantes
Topes de Collantes is a mountain region of the Sierra Escambray, approximately 20 Km north of Trinidad. The road twists and turns through spectacular scenery, with every bend offering new views of tropical vegetation, interspersed with plantation forests of eucalyptus and pine. Parrots and other bird species are abound.
